This model is a prehistoric inspired lamp made with natural materials and represents the different art forms from this era.

I conducted quick research on the various types of prehistoric art worldwide to gather inspiration and represent them more accurately while designing the lamp.

I'm pleased with the final design and like how the different parts and materials mesh well together. I wanted to include smaller shells on the cord, but did not have time.

I did the design, modeling, UVs, textures and lighting.

My 2D Design

- The top part is made with an old conch shell. This type of shell was was used 18 000 years ago as one of the oldest man-made instruments. The top part was cut-off and holes were made to let sound pass. Here it will allow the light to shine, functioning as a lamp. - The body of the lamp is made of sculpted rough wood to give it a totem-like appearance as wood sculpting is an ancient art form. It represents the body of a woman with large and imprecise curves and facial features and is based on some of the oldest man-made sculptures like the Venus of Brassempouy or the Venus of Hohle Fels. - The string which you pull to open or close the light is made of leather, which cavemen had access due to hunting. There is also an eagle claw attached to it. Some of the oldest necklaces found are between 130 000 to 150 000 years old and include shells, claws and beads on them. -The base is a large rock a material emblematic to the cavemen and their cave paintings. The rock is painted and inspired by cave paintings, one of the oldest art in human history and found across the world. There are symbols, animals running, a hunter and a hand print and scratches. -I also took inspiration from images of rock and wood lamps. The images below were found on google image. I made a sketch to represent my final idea.
